Patio doors are beautiful but they are not very private. This may be a problem for you if you have neighbors that live close by. Fortunately, there are things you can do to provide you with some privacy, three of which are listed below.

Wood Blinds

Wood blinds are beautiful and popular for windows. You can also purchase wood blinds that are long enough to completely cover a patio door.

Genuine wood blinds are made of maple, cherry, or oak and you can choose from a variety of finishes so they can match your flooring and/or furniture. These wood blinds will not fade so you can always keep that beautiful wood color.

If it is not in your budget to purchase genuine wood blinds, you can choose faux wood instead. The only way you can really tell a difference is if you touch the blinds. These blinds hold up better in high humidity. The colors available are limited, however, so you may have a problem matching faux wood blinds to the décor of your home.

Panels

There are panels available to cover the patio sliding glass door. The panels generally attach to the track using fasteners. This allows you to change the fabrics and colors any time you wish. You can easily open and close the door without problems. In most cases, panels open in an accordion style.

When choosing the fabric, you can choose a solid fabric or an opaque fabric depending on the level of privacy you want. They also make blackout fabric panels if you want to make the room completely dark, such as if you sleep in this area.

Curtains

You could simply hang a curtain over the sliding glass doors. If you do this, choose curtains with grommets so they slide easily when you open and close the door. You can hang sheer curtains under opaque curtains to allow you to control home much light shines through the door. This not only looks beautiful but also provides you with a level of privacy.

Use tie backs to easily open and close the curtains, and make sure they hang a few inches from the floor to keep them cleaner. You can choose from a variety of fabrics and colors for these curtains so should have no problem finding some that match your home's décor.

Following these tips will allow you to enjoy your patio doors without worrying about who can see in.
